Cat Tien Nationalpark
Oplev tigeren og Java næsehornets tidligere hjem – den største tilbageværende jungle i Vietnam. Trek og cykle igennem Cat Tien National Park, nyd den friske luft og lydene fra de vilde, men knapt så farlige, Samba-rådyr, vildokser, gibbon og duoc-aber, næsehornsfugle, vildsvin, påfugle, m.fl., som endnu lever her.
Det beskyttede naturområde er i sit hele større end Bornholm, og parken tilbyder flere forskellige trekkingruter, og en sammenlagt 30 km lang grus/beton belagt vej – perfekt til at udforske naturen på cykel på egen hånd.
Krokodillesøen – Bầu Sấu
Gå ikke glip af den 5 km lange gåtur gennem tæt jungle til Krokodillesøen (Bao Sau) i midten af Cat Tien National Park. Her lever Siamesiske krokodiller, der blev genudsat i 2005, og mange vade- og vandfugle, der kan opleves fra et udsigtstårn og en kanotur på søen.
På grund af stedets størrelse og mangfoldighed af natur og friluftsaktiviteter, er der nok at få tiden til at gå med på en 3 dage/2 nætters tur til Cat Tien National Park. Du kan for eksempel også tage på en times natsafari, hvor du fra ladet af en jeep spotter dyrene, der først bliver aktive efter mørkets frembrud. Turene starter kl. 19 og varer en time.
Hvis du har mod på at se flere dyr, kan du også besøge abe- eller bjørnereservaterne, der arbejder med at genudsætte dyr til det fri, som tidligere har været holdt i fangenskab. Her kan du være helt sikker på at opleve de romantiske Gibbonaber, som er kendt for at synge for deres mage.
Overnatning i Cat Tien National Park
I og omkring Cat Tien National Park har du mulighed for at vælge flere forskellige overnatningsformer.
Vi kan anbefale en nat i den nybyggede og Danida-støttede øko-lodge, som er et langhus, der er lavet i bambus og træ af de lokale etniske minoriteter, og som ligger omgivet af skoven godt 12 km fra Park-hovedkvarteret.
Fra øko-lodgen har du mulighed for trekking, cykling og andre udendørsaktiviteter kombineret med kulturoplevelser.
Nord for Cat Tien National Park og i en perfekt kombination med en cykel-trekking tur til krokodillesøen har du/I mulighed for, at overnatte hos en lokal familie og komme helt tæt på landbrugslivet på kanten af regnskoven.
Smag på friske frugter og lær at lave vietnamesisk mad sammen med familien.
Også i selve Cat Tien National Parks hovedkvarter er der beskedne (en suite) gæstehuse møbleret med single eller dobbelt senge, aircondition, mosquitonet etc.. Der er også en græsplæne, hvor det er muligt at slå et telt op. Det er en god ide at kombinere en overnatning i parken med en overnatning i langhuset eller i homestay.
Bemærk, at det er ikke altid at det er muligt at booke overnatning langhuset.

Cat Tien National Park - 2 days 1 night at Ranger Camp

Tour description:
Day 1: HCM City – Cat Tien National Park (B/L/D) – 160 km
Morning: 08:00: Welcome and pick up guests at the hotel in HCM City. Then, transfer to Cat Tien National Park, with stops on the way for breakfast and visiting La Nga Floating Village. Discover the former volcanic crater (lava tubes) and enjoy sightseeing along the way.
Noon: Have lunch at a local restaurant before going to the park (simple lunch is served).
Afternoon: Arrive at the Dong Nai River bank, and get on the boat to access the office of Cat Tien National Park. Complete the paperwork. Then, continue the tour by bicycle (10 km) to explore the park’s rich nature. After that, access the trail and start hiking (6 km) through the forest to reach Bau Sau Lake (Crocodile Swamp). While hiking, if we are lucky, we may see some animals like deer, civet, loris, pangolin, wild boar, or bird species like peacock, black drongo, etc.
Arrive at Bau Sau Lake, check in. Free time for your own activities to explore the park, enjoy the sunset, and help the forest rangers prepare dinner.
Evening: Have dinner with the forest ranger officers and spend the night at the Forest Ranger Station. Chat with the forest ranger officers to learn more about the park’s legends. After dinner, go to the lake shore to watch crocodiles at night (an adventure!).
Notes:
- Rooms at the forest ranger station are simple and basic, but cozy as they are surrounded by nature.
- Before reaching Bau Sau Lake, if guests do not want to use the bike, a pick-up (4WD) can be used instead.
Day 2: Cat Tien National Park – HCM City (B/L) – 160 km
Morning:
06.00 – 07.00 Relax and enjoy the morning. Watch the crocodiles in the lake nearby. After breakfast, check out and continue to walk (6 km), exploring the park’s fauna and flora system at 09.00. Continue the tour by bicycle to return to the park’s office.
Note: Sometimes, we also get off the bike and walk to discover some parts of the trails in the forest (if guests are sporty and want to explore the park more). Visit giant trees like the 400-year-old Tung tree, the Fabaceae tree, the Lagerstroemia forest, etc.
Arrive at the park’s headquarters, and continue to visit the Nature Museum and the Preserved Animal Centre. Leave the park and get on the boat again to cross the Dong Nai River to reach the land.
Noon: Have lunch at a local restaurant (simple lunch is served).
Afternoon: Go back to Ho Chi Minh City, enjoying sightseeing along the way. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City around 18:00, and transfer to your hotel. End of services.

Day 02: Discover Cat Tien National Park (B/L/D)
Morning:
07:30 – 08:30 Have breakfast at the hotel.
08:30: Get on the boat to access Cat Tien National Park and continue the tour by bicycle (9 km) to explore the park’s rich nature. Hike (5 km) through the forest to Bau Sau Lake (Crocodile Swamp). While hiking, you might see animals like deer, civet, loris, pangolin, wild boar, and bird species like peacock and black drongo.
Noon:
12:30 Arrive at Bau Sau Lake, have lunch with local dishes.
Afternoon: Relax + Free for your own activities to explore the park.

09:00 Check-out and continue to walk/hike (5 km), explore the park’s fauna and flora system. Off the trail and continue the tour by bicycle to get back to the park’s office. Relax, check out, leave the park, and get on the boat again to cross the Dong Nai River to access land.
Noon: Have lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: Go back to Ho Chi Minh City, and have sightseeing on the way.
Arrive in Saigon around 18h00, transfer to your hotel.
